State Prairie Grass

Indiangrass?

Nope. Indiangrass (scientific name Sorghastrum nutans) was not selected as the State Prairie Grass of Illinois.

This grass was once an important component of the true prairies of the United States and Canada. In Illinois it is now limited mostly to small prairie remnants. Indiangrass stands four to eight feet tall.

Try again.
