Dickson Mounds Museum invites you to attend the annual Open House on Sunday, August 18, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. At 3:00 p.m., Museum Director Dr. Michael Wiant will outline plans for new exhibits and research in a Museum auditorium presentation. Among exciting developments are discoveries made during the Morton site excavation and research on the Dickson Mounds cemetery. The day’s activities will highlight plans for new additions to the Museum’s Discovery Center, as well as plans for a new exhibit that will feature the Emiquon Partnership, nature and will incorporate animal mounts and provide a more complete story of Native American history in the Illinois River Valley. There will also be “hands-on” educational activities for all ages in the Discovery Center. Light refreshments will be available throughout the day. Admission is free.
