Jug Fishing Zoom in on jug fishing
Jug fishing is a method of fishing, especially in the spring, for channel catfish. The method uses containers such as cans, jugs, or today, plastic milk cartons, as floats. Usually an 18-inch long fishing line with a #4 hook and cut bait (shad or perch) is attached to each jug. In the evening, the jugs are placed in the water at intervals and left. The floating jugs tire out the fish that bite the hook. Early the next morning, the fisherman returns to pull the jugs and the fish carefully out of the water.
