Decoy Weights
Weights were nailed into groves on the lower surface of wooden decoys so that the decoy would float in the water upright and at the proper depth.

From top to bottom: 2 5" weights made by J. F. Mott (1968.12,798885); 2 1/2" domed oval (798925); 4" homemade weight; 8" weight from an Elliston decoy by E. W. Blatchforer Co., Chicago.
